Quick answer: Of seven big car insurers, USAA is the only one that prints a claims fax for its customers: 800-531-8669. GEICO takes faxes too, but sends you the number for your claim rather than publishing one. State Farm, Progressive, Allstate, Liberty Mutual and Farmers have no public claims fax; your documents go through their apps or an upload link.

The faxes State Farm, Progressive and Allstate do publish are for medical providers: a doctor’s office sending records or bills on an injury claim. None of the three lists a claims fax for policyholders, and their claims pages point customers to uploads instead.

USAA: one number for members and other drivers

USAA prints 800-531-8669 in its member auto claims FAQ and again in its third-party claims help. Members write their name and member number at the top of every page. If you’re claiming against a USAA member, your name and claim number go there instead. USAA’s support page labels 8669 its claims fax; the 800-531-8877 listed beside it is for policy paperwork, not claims. The USAA claim guide has the rest, including the email route through your adjuster.

GEICO: the number comes with your claim

GEICO’s fax policy says one number doesn’t fit all, so it gives you the right one, usually by email or through your claims or service agent. Put your policy or claim number on every page you fax. If no number reached you, GEICO points you to chat or phone, and your online account holds your policy documents.

State Farm: upload, or call 800-732-5246

State Farm’s claims pages send policyholders to the State Farm app or statefarm.com to upload photos and documents and to message the claims team. Auto, home and property claims by phone go to 800-SF-CLAIM (800-732-5246).

The (844) 218-1140 fax that turns up in searches sits on State Farm’s business portal for medical billing. It’s where a provider sends SOAP notes and other supporting documents after a State Farm claim rep asks for them. If your doctor’s office needs to send records for your auto claim, that’s its number.

Progressive: watch your email after filing

Report the claim online, in the app or on 1-800-776-4737. Progressive emails a confirmation with your claim number, then a separate secure link for uploading photos, videos and documents.

Its contact page also lists a “General Fax”, 1-877-280-5587, under general customer service, without saying what it takes. Ask your claims rep before sending claim paperwork there. Progressive’s provider fax, (877) 213-7258, is in its eBill instructions for medical providers, who put the 9-digit claim number on every page.

Allstate, Liberty Mutual and Farmers

With USAA, fax to 800-531-8669 today. With GEICO, wait for the number, then put the claim number on each page. Municorn Fax sends from your phone: photograph the estimate or receipt, enter 800-531-8669 or the number GEICO sent, and keep the delivery report. One single-page test fax is free. Frequently Asked Questions

Does State Farm accept faxes from policyholders?

State Farm doesn’t publish a claims fax for policyholders. Its claims pages point to uploads in the app or online, and to 800-SF-CLAIM. The fax it does list, (844) 218-1140, is on its medical billing portal for providers.

What should be on every faxed page?

The number that matches the page to your file. GEICO asks for your policy or claim number on every page. USAA asks members for their name and member number, and other drivers for their name and claim number.

Is Progressive’s general fax for claims?

Progressive’s contact page doesn’t say. It lists 1-877-280-5587 as a general fax under customer service, while its claims help sends documents through the upload link it emails after you file.
