Quick answer: Carrington Mortgage Services has a separate fax for each job. Notices of error, information requests, qualified written requests and credit-report disputes go to (800) 486-5134. Property tax documents go to (817) 826-0406, proof of insurance to (866) 493-1441 and insurance claim (loss draft) documents to (866) 328-0330. Carrington prints no fax number for mortgage assistance applications.

Truist, Navy Federal and Wells Fargo take notices of error by mail only. Carrington is different: its contact page says these must be submitted “by fax or in writing”, to the number and address it lists. The insurance and loss-draft faxes go to SWBC, which handles insurance for Carrington.

Writing a notice of error

A notice of error is a written statement that your servicer got something wrong: a payment not credited, a fee you don’t owe, an escrow mistake. Under Regulation X, §1024.35, the servicer has five business days to acknowledge it and, for most errors, 30 days to respond, with up to 15 more if it tells you why. Errors about a payoff amount must be answered within seven days.

Carrington asks for your loan number on every page. Name the error and the account it’s on, and add copies of anything that shows it. The mailing alternative is Carrington Mortgage Services, LLC, P.O. Box 5001, Westfield, IN 46074. If you’re unhappy with how Carrington resolved an issue, that’s a separate route: its Customer Advocate Department takes complaints at (949) 861-9015 or P.O. Box 3489, Anaheim, CA 92803.

Tax, insurance and loss drafts

Property tax documents can also go by mail to P.O. Box 9213, Coppell, TX 75019-9229, and the tax line is (844) 580-3677. Insurance documents by mail go to P.O. Box 692408, San Antonio, TX 78269-2408, and the insurance line is (866) 735-4867. Loss draft documents can be emailed to cms_lossdraft@swbc.com, marked for the Loss Draft Department.

Mortgage assistance without a fax number

Carrington’s assistance page sends you to its online Mortgage Assistance Portal, or to mail at Loss Mitigation Department, 500 North State College Boulevard, Suites 1030, 1300 and 1400, Orange, CA 92868. It mentions mail or fax and asks for your loan number on each page, but prints no fax number; call customer service on 1-800-561-4567 (8am to 9pm Eastern, Monday to Friday) before faxing anything. Carrington says it acknowledges a request by mail within five business days and decides within 30 calendar days.

With the loan number written on each page, Municorn Fax sends a notice of error to (800) 486-5134 from your phone and gives you a dated delivery report, which is worth keeping when the five-day clock matters. See also Rocket Mortgage and Onity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a Carrington fax for a loan modification?

Carrington’s pages don’t print one. Apply through the Mortgage Assistance Portal or by mail, and call 1-800-561-4567 if you want to ask about faxing.

What’s the difference between the two insurance faxes?

(866) 493-1441 is for proof of homeowners insurance. (866) 328-0330 is for insurance claim checks and loss draft documents after damage. SWBC handles both for Carrington.

Where do I dispute something on my credit report?

Carrington takes direct disputes about its credit reporting at the same fax and address as notices of error: (800) 486-5134, or P.O. Box 5001, Westfield, IN 46074.
