Quick answer: To fax Hong Kong from abroad, dial your exit code (011 from the US or Canada, 00 from the UK and most of Europe), then 852, then the eight-digit number. There are no area codes. Faxing out of Hong Kong from a landline, use 002, the international code set aside for fax, rather than 001. From a phone, Municorn Fax handles both directions and includes international faxing in every plan, so Hong Kong to London costs the same as Hong Kong to Kowloon.

Hong Kong has its own fax app, a convenience-store chain that lists fax among its services, and an international dialing code set aside just for fax. What’s thin is anything in English about faxing across its border.

Hong Kong Fax Numbers and the 002 Code

Hong Kong numbers are eight digits, and there have been no area codes since 1989. Fixed lines start with 2 or 3. The country code is 852.

Hong Kong’s numbering plan, published by the communications regulator OFCA, lists 001 as the international code for voice calls and 002 as the one for fax and data. A fax machine plugged into a Hong Kong line should dial 002 before the overseas number. An app or online service skips all of this and adds the right codes itself.

For other formats, our international faxing guide has a number formatter.

Faxing Hong Kong From Your Phone

With Municorn Fax, faxing Hong Kong takes the same steps as a local fax. Start a new fax, tap the country flag and choose Hong Kong (+852), then type the eight digits. Scan your document with your iPhone or Android camera or attach a PDF from your phone, Google Drive or Dropbox, add a cover page if the office expects one, and send. When it lands you get delivery confirmation: a Delivered status with a timestamp, which is your proof of sending.

Every plan lets you send faxes without limit, international ones included, so the 90-plus countries the app reaches all cost the same. On the Hong Kong App Store it’s HK$78 a week, HK$238 a month or HK$1,948 a year (checked October 2026); on Android it’s billed through Google Play. There’s no free trial, but you can send one free single-page test fax before you subscribe. If you’d rather fax from a computer or straight from your email address, EveryFax sends to Hong Kong within its plans and has a two-week free trial.

Getting a Hong Kong (+852) Fax Number

If you need a number Hong Kong offices can fax locally, there are two options. FAX852, a Hong Kong fax app, includes a local fax number on its monthly send-and-receive plans and also sells pay-as-you-go pages for sending. We haven’t reviewed it; this is from its own site. Fax.Plus lists +852 among its local numbers too, though our review found many countries need an extra fee and ID.

Municorn Fax gives you a number in any US or Canadian area code, and it works from Hong Kong as well as anywhere else. That’s the better fit if most of your faxes go overseas, or come in from North America: you send to Hong Kong, the US or any of 90-plus countries on the same plan, without counting pages. Our guide to getting a fax number online covers the options.

Faxing in Person: Try 7-Eleven

7-Eleven’s own services page says “Fax and photocopying service are available at 7-Eleven, please contact stores for details.” It doesn’t say whether every store sends, receives or both, or what it charges, so phone the branch before you walk over with your documents. Hongkong Post’s list of counter services doesn’t include fax.

Marketing Faxes Into Hong Kong: The Do-Not-Call Rules

Hong Kong’s Unsolicited Electronic Messages Ordinance, enforced by OFCA, runs do-not-call registers that cover fax as well as text messages and pre-recorded calls. Three rules matter if you fax promotions into Hong Kong:

Read OFCA’s guidance before you send anything promotional. A signed contract or a form an office asked you for isn’t what the registers are about.

On privacy: Municorn Fax and EveryFax are HIPAA compliant with a BAA, which is a US framework. Hong Kong’s data-protection law is the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, overseen by the PCPD, and we don’t claim either product is certified against it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I send a fax to Hong Kong from the US?
Dial 011, then 852, then the eight-digit number, for example 011 852 2XXX XXXX. With Municorn Fax you pick Hong Kong from the country list and type the eight digits; the app adds the rest.
What is 002 in Hong Kong?
It’s the international access code for fax and data. Hong Kong’s numbering plan lists 001 for international voice calls and 002 for fax, so a fax machine on a Hong Kong line dials 002 before an overseas number.
Can I send a fax at 7-Eleven in Hong Kong?
7-Eleven says fax and photocopying are available in its stores, and asks you to contact the store for details. Check with your nearest branch before you go.
How much does it cost to fax Hong Kong?
It depends on the service. When we checked in October 2026, GotFreeFax charged US$0.29 a page and FaxZero US$2.09 per fax up to 15 pages. Municorn Fax includes international faxing in its plan, so there’s no per-page charge for Hong Kong.
Can I get a Hong Kong fax number?
Yes. FAX852 includes a Hong Kong number on its monthly plans, and Fax.Plus lists +852 numbers. Municorn Fax gives you a US or Canadian number that works from Hong Kong and sends anywhere on the same plan.

We also cover faxing in Singapore and faxing in the UAE.
